November Newsletter: The Truth is …. I’m on a break

“What happens when people open their hearts? They get better “- Haruki Murukami

The truth is … I am on a break …. this month of November, with the intention to write down my stories. One day …. I’m going to publish my memoir that will comfort and inspire the world, but first I need to show up for myself and take the time and space to write.

Creating a break for myself doesn’t come easy to me, but I got better at it over time. I still remember when I wanted to go on my first Camino to Santiago, it took years before I felt ready and deserving to go. And I am forever grateful that I finally had the guts to be away from my family and my Aruba home for almost 2 months.

After the Camino Frances, it got much easier to go on a pilgrimage each year. The Camino Norte, Camino Primitivo and Camino Ingles, all in Spain followed. The walking, the stunning nature but mostly the atmosphere, the encounters with other pilgrims got me hooked to the Camino experience. I love how simple stories and the reasoning for walking are shared with a total stranger. But also, how we comfortably walked in silence together. It made our journeys so meaningful.
