Wisdom Walks
Walking alone in nature has always been a great joy for me, but I also love to walk with others. I did both on the Camino of Santiago de Compostela. It is great to walk and talk, but walking with others in silence is quite magical.
What I discovered on the Camino is that walking in silence with others can help you see nature with more clarity, to hear sounds at a deeper level, and to connect with yourself and all of nature in a deeper way.
People were often surprised when I told them that I walked the Camino on my own. I realized that for many, it feels too risky to walk alone in nature.
Through my wanders in nature and my Camino I have learned that nature has a lot of wisdom to share with us. Wisdom Walks, is an opportunity to walk with the safety of another and to open up to the wisdom that solitude can bring. Walk in silence at your own pace, contemplate nature, observe the landscape, walk mindfully or in a meditative state and explore a little off the path.
We will walk, listen, smell, feel and watch nature and wait for nature’s wisdom to presents itself.
There will be time after the walk for reflection.
